Calcium scale above water line? Removal?

Hi pros- we have some calcium scale (at least I think that’s what it is) around the stone/grout by our spa waterfall. This is the only place I’ve noticed any scale. If it is calcium scale, do I use 100% Muriatic acid to remove it? A pumice stone doesn’t seem to be doing anything.
1. If I DO use Muriatic acid..how do I apply it safely without it splashing or spraying?
2. Should I be concerned about all the scale falling into the pool water?

Mixing some muriatic acid and water in a spray bottle in about a 3:1 ratio (water to acid), combined with some brushing should do the trick. If teh scale is stubborn, you can try a 50/50 mix. It won't hurt anything when it runs down into the water.

Could also use "Acid Magic" which I see from some quick research has been discussed on TFP several times. Safer to handle and store, 90% less fumes, and far less caustic - at least that has been my experience in using it to clean deposits off my coping. It was suggested to me by the company that renovated my pool. Fairly certain I've also used it for the calcium scale you are referring to. Not sure what the water ratio is anymore, but directions are on the container. I put the mix in a spray bottle that was advertised as being suitable for use with chemicals and found the stuff really easy to work with. After spraying it on the coping - I seem to recall you let it sit for several minutes and then I just hosed it off into the pool water. As TS mentioned, no problem with doing that.
