Are calcium levels important with a vinyl liner? I’ve never tested calcium levels because I thought they weren’t. But, I was talking to a rep at Majic Jacks about something else (metal staining), and he said mine were too low and it would cause my liner to stretch and ripple.

There is no need for calcium in a pool with a vinyl liner.
What he describes is due to low pH. Not low calcium.

This is off subject. But, I’m planning on doing a slam at the end of the summer to filter out iron. But, I have liquid and cal/hypo chlorine. I feel like I’ve read posts that say it’s okay to use dry. I have messed up so much with my pool this year. I don’t want to put anything else in it that would mess it up.

LIquid chlorine adds chlorine, salt, and water. Cal Hypo adds chlorine and calcium. Cal Hypo can cloud up the water under certain conditions (typically elevated pH and TA). You do need to be careful with Cal Hypo as the granules can land on your vinyl liner and thus stain the liner.
