Had a new liner installed a couple days ago. In the process of balancing water. I added ten pounds of calcium flakes broadcasted over deep end. Grabbed my brush and started to push around to help dissolve. I notice the flakes starting to stick to bottom and it took a little more aggressive brushing to get it to dissolve. Could this in any way damaged the liner? Worried about it staining it or heating up so much that it melted to it??

I would definitely keep working to brush anything still on the bottom. Curious, why did you add calcium? We know the liner doesn't need it. Was a it a precaution advised by someone or your heater manual?
I was able to get it to dissolve after four or five brush strokes. Just have never had it stick before. Was worried about it burning liner or color. Added per gas heater manual.

It’s always best to dissolve the calcium chloride in small batches using a 5 gallon bucket and then pour it around the perimeter. Then brush. Calcium chloride can become very hot as it absorbs water. It is a deliquescent salt, meaning that it absorbs water into its structure first rather than dissolving into the water as calcium and chloride ions. This creates a viscous solid that gets very hot to the touch. So it probably did stick to the liner more easily as it was absorbing water. It probably didn’t do any damage but you want to avoid letting calcium chloride sit against a liner for any length of time.

Performed a little bucket experiment. I used flakes before but all they had was these granular this time. Left direct on spare liner piece for five minutes. It did not stick like the flake did but it did no damage. The flake box said do not dissolve but apply directly to deep end. Fast then I could throw ten pounds scattered and pick up my brush they had started to stick. Luckily they brushed off in four to five brushes. Can not see any damage from the deck.
