Yes. Def, leave it open. I googled it in an attempt to find out exactly what was in it and what I could use for a pool chem substitute since I don't like to waste money. Bang, all I needed in this thread.

I see an unanswered question, and that question is the same one I have and reason I came upon this thread.
"What is the difference between calcium chloride and calcium chloride dihydrate?"
Pool math gives two different choices for increasing CH calcium chloride or calcium chloride dihydrate.
I use Splash brand "Hardness Plus". The bag does not say which of the two it is.
Can Chem Geek or some other pool chem-god of Olympus shed some light on this?

If you need a large amount of ice melt for calcium hardness increase, I just bought this from Sam’s for about 1/2 the price Home Depot has it for.

MELT brand ice melt (calcium chloride), 50 lbs.

Home Depot: $37 (plus ship)
