Hi. I am looking to move the control pad from the pump to another area. They sell a cable for it ... Hayward VS Pump Communication Cable SPX3200DRCC, but it's only about 20ft long. I need longer. Does anyone know what the cable specs are so I can buy a longer wire. Is it just a low voltage 4 wire? maybe 22 gauge. ?

Thanks
Rich

Are you using automation. That is what the Hayward cable is for. It is a 22g 2-conductor shielded cable. Sprinkler wire has worked for me before the Hayward cable became available.
If you are moving the panel from the top of the pump it is 4-conductor cable. I've used sprinkler wire several times. You also need the Hayward Wall Mount kit, SP3200DR910.
Good video of the process:

Hi. I am not using automation. Yes, I am just moving the panel from the top and will get the wall kit. Just wasn't sure if any particular type cable was needed. sounds like outdoor insulated 22g 4 wire will do the job. Nothing special. I noted in the video that he used what looks like CAT5E twisted pair. That certainly isn't needed as I can see.

Thanks

Outdoor-rated sprinkler wire works just fine. Done it several times.

Why is it the wrong cable?

It's the right part number.

Strain relief plugs are not hard to find.
He has no automation. That is a cable for automation, 2-conductor plus a shield. Also, only 20' long and he wants to move it further. Hayward says you can remote the control up to 500' away. He wants to remote mount the on-pump control. It takes the kit and wire I mentioned in my earlier post. Done it several times. The kit used to come with the pump (minus the wire and strain-relief). Strain-relief is nice. My way works as well and I don't have chase another part. I've still got a couple of hundred feet of 6-conductor sprinkler wire (six because the Hayward pump uses six conductors when it is used with relay control).
