Hi! I'm new to owning a pool and I'm looking for recommendations for things/ chemicals I should always have on hand and the best place to buy them. Like pool shock and chlorine tablets.
The TFP program does not endorse the use of chlorine tablets and shock as that adds unnecessary chemicals (and cost) to the pool.
Would you be interested to using liquid chlorine? That can be purchased at Walmart, Home Depot or similar type stores.
Muriatic Acid can be purchased in similar places or that is one item that may be purchased at a pool store as not all big box stores carry MA.
These are the 2 most needed chemicals to have on hand using the TFP methodology.
It is also recommended not to rely on pool store testing because it is never really "free" when you walk out with $300 of unneeded chemicals. The basis is that a pool owner should test their water and make adjustments based on that testing. Please refer to the Test Kits Compared
