Burning cables..

I have a Nano Digital SWG. It's been giving me an error message about low current /voltage. Also, my chlorine levels were falling drastically. I decided to inspect the cell to make sure there wasn't an excessive build up of limescale. Pulled the cable out and found it was burnt at the cell end.
IMG_20190312_222858.jpgI suspect there may have been an ingress of moisture causing a short circuit. I've found replacement cables for about $50 online. Hopefully, a new cable with the red plastic plug in place in the third unused hole should fix it.

Wow! That was a nasty mess. Good you caught it when you did. Not sure what else you can do to prevent such a thing. Does the users manual mention dielectric grease or anything? Maybe someone else will reply with an idea to help prevent that from happening again.

That's probably not a short. More like a dirty connection with a higher than normal resistance. That gets hot, the resistance increases further and it goes around until something melts. Add a bit of moisture and you get electrolysis and the whole thing turns nasty.
