Building our first pool

NPT & SGM so far have been the two he has presented.
With SGM I did look at Durazzo which is very nice but I selected Primera by Wet Edge. They are the similar with regard to being a polished plaster to make it smooth. I do not know much about their Ultra Pearl Brite but it seems similar to the both Durazzo and Wet Edge however I would suggest more investigation.

***June 3rd update***
Well, we are starting on Month number 9....Pool guy called me Monday and said he needed $8,500 to start the deck tile. Keep in mind, on a $90,000 project, I owe him $16,000 on the total project. He still has to tile, plaster, tile deck (900 sqft of travertine), build two raised beds to hide laminar jet screwup, grade, lighting and a few other issues. I spoke with his partner and he said they did not need the funds to start. I told him I would pay the $8,500 at the completion of the deck and tile work. I'm still way upside down. I will see if they show up Saturday to start. If not, it's time to call the Attorney.....

Sorry you're going through all this. I've been through the same the past 10 months. Consider yourself a babysitter for these contractors until it's over.

I have the Ledge Loungers Chair (which is taller than the lowback but same recline angle) and love them much more than the chaise lounges. It puts you in a much more comfortable position for reading, watching the kids, having a conversation with others or having a drink.

We originally wanted the lowback chairs but after sitting in them my wife and I decided on the chair because on the lowback there was no head support to lean back.
I modified my order with Ledge Lounger and ordered the high back chairs. Thanks for the insight. Upside is they were only 3 weeks out on the high backs vs 9 on the low backs!!

First time we've ever had workers three days in a row!!! Deck tile, waterfall tile and spa tile and coping are supposed to be done this week!!! Next is to finish the electrical, lights and then plaster. My wife wants a light blue finish. I would prefer a medium blue, but I prefer a happy wife more.... I think we are going with NPT's Quartzscape Super Blue or Mariner Blue. Hopefully they will be soft on the feet and work well. Wish me luck!!

where are you on settlement with the PB - i hope you haven't paid him any more money
I gave him $3k last night for two days work. We needed the work to continue. It's not ideal, but hopefully the project will continue. I've resigned to the fact that I have a sketchy PB and that I'm not getting the pool I contracted for in the beginning. I stayed and spoke with the sub this morning. He pointed out all of the concrete issues the PB said the sub was going to 'magically' fix. (crooked walls on the raised spa, raised spa not square, wall thickness of raised spa varies from 10.75" to 12.75" from side to side) The sub said they were impossible to fix, but hopefully could be hidden. It's what it is, but it is very disappointing on a $90K pool

My fear is that if you are underwater with him and he needs $3k to pay his subs that eventually you are gonna hit your paid in full balance before the job is done and he won’t have the liquidity to finish.

He hit me up for $20,000 today. He quoted $4,500 for an upgrade. Work was almost finished today. Sub has been there all week. First time during the entire project someone has worked Monday to Friday. He said he didn't quote it correctly. He said he under quoted it by $15,500. He did not leave with $20,000.

OK. PB now says Diamond Brite is the plaster quoted in the bid. I asked how much was an upcharge for Quartzscape. He quoted me $10,000 up charge for Quartzscape. Has anyone every heard of that much more for NPT quartzscape??? I passed on the upgrade and we're using Diamond Brite.

That is beautiful! I really wish I would have done a modern style pool and did tile on my spa and raised wall...
Wow. Thanks. We purchased a lot behind our house and now we are deciding on what to do back there. Probably a small covered wine tasting patio & fire pit.

Wow. It's been an interesting three weeks. My PB is now under investigation by the local Sheriff's office and the Louisiana State Contractors board. It is a father & son team. The son did not renew his General contractors license June 1. Several of their customers have come forward and complained about them. The state board is investigating them for fraud. They took deposits and 1st draw on 50 pools (over $1,500,000) and did not do the work. Sheriff's office is looking to arrest them and charge them with a list of crimes. I found out the father did this same thing in Lake Charles, Louisiana in 2015 and spent 2-3 years in jail. His son is the holder of the contractor's license since the father is not eligible after his fraud conviction. The pool has had no work done and the PB cannot touch it till the contractors license is renewed. It will not be renewed according to the state. (found out today they are now taking deposits in East Texas for pools) So now I have to find a PB that is willing to take over the project. This is a tall task. No one wants to touch his work. One of the customers was an executive hostess at a local casino. They told her they were short on cash and could not do some work on time. They did not know where she worked. She saw he was dropping $10,000 several times a week gambling. This is were all the money went apparently.
