*Build Thread* - California Bay Area new pool construction

Hello all - First post here, been lurking for a while trying to absorb knowledge.

So far, here is what I know are definite parameters for the pool:

• 26,000 gallon outdoor in-ground 26'x38' stoneworks finish gunite pool w/ 30' lazy river, island with seating deck, 3 waterfalls, 4 deck jets, and 11'x7' spa;
• Hayward TriStar VS pump; Hayward 2 HP TriStar full rate pump (features); Hayward 3 HP TriStar full rate pump (lazy river jet);
• First Choice 525 sq ft cartridge filter;
• Hayward Universal H-Series 400k BTU heater;
• Hayward ProLogic automation w/ AquaConnect;
• SR Smith PoolLux Premier light controller, SR Smith Treo and Treo Micro lights;

I bet if you do a search in the white search box at the top of this page for the above info you might find a couple of just completed builds that have the done the phone apps. See what they have to say.

The AquaConnect is what gives you the smartphone control.

Other than that, it comes down to the number of relays and built-in connections? How many components (e.g., VS Pump) will be connected to the panel? Does the panel support that many connections with relays or built-in connections? You will definitely need a relay for the PoolLux controller and for each non-VS Pump.

I know the installation manual for the OmniLogic lists the number of built-in connections and relays. So you may want to start your research with the manuals for the E-Command and ProLogic.

The other thing to consider is the price difference between a ProLogic (with 8 relays, right?) and the option of an AcquaConnect and the OmniLogic panel that comes standard with 4 relays, the AcquaConnect, and all sorts of built-in connections for VS Pumps, Valves, and Heaters.

Ha! I was just commenting to a friend that it would be cool to have a lazy river like Great Wolf Lodge in the backyard. It will be interesting to see it completed I had no idea it could be done on a home build but I guess it is just water jets.

Great advice! We had that happen today when we were deciding how tall to make the back wall. Luckily, I work from home, so I'm able to be right there whenever needed.

OK - We finally got into our build window with the PB, plumbing is done! 4" suction, 11 spa jets, 2 deck jets, 1 river jet, 3 water features, 4 lights AND lots of pipe!

That has some really neat features! Will the rocks in the middle of the moat be a water fall?

Now it is time for you to start bonding with your pool aka watering it! When you get tired of doing it by hand you can use a sprinkler.

Make sure to ask any and all questions you might have no matter how small! We have all been where you are at one point.

Now is also the time to ask your PB what test kit he is providing. Let us know so we can fill in any holes!

Yep, there will be a waterfall in the island. There is a gas line there, but will be capped off for now until my autistic son can learn to not play with every knob he can find...

Been watering 3 times a day, keeping it damp. Using a sprinkler a well at times, but I was getting water collecting in the bottom.

I bought the Taylor K-2006C test kit based on all the reading I've done here. Been reading up on all the pool chemistry and looking for local sources for everything I need. I've got my Whale Tail brush, a ProTuff Pool Net, and the PB is providing a Dolphin robot during the build.
