Hi, I have a lot of bugs that look like ants (small to large ones) in the pool. I don't know if they actually sting or bit but they hurt and leave welts. My pool tests are where they should be. I didn't know if there is something I can put in the pool to get rid of them?

I get these once in a while, just scoop them out with a dip net.

I don't think that the bugs I have are the backswimmers. The bugs in my pool look more ants and the bite or sting you.

They could be ants. I have noticed that after heavy rains, the ants in my area would swarm and land in the pool. Sometimes forming little rafts that would float on the water.

Is there any chance they could be sweat bees? We have a real problem with them in our pool. They're tiny but pack a pretty painful bite or sting...not sure which. They really resemble little ants with wings. If it turns out that's what's pestering you here's a good thread about them...Sweat bees have taken over my pool.

I live central Illinois. I can not get a picture to come up, my iPad is not cooperating. I will keep trying. The pesty little bugs seem to just come out durning the day and if you put a float or noodle in the pool they seem to go straight to them and crawl all over them.
