First, I apologize in advance for not having a photo, I will have one as soon as soon as I can manage. My pool is full of these big black ants with wings - my google searching has convinced me they are carpenter ants. I there are thousands of them in the pool every day, and the filter isn't keeping up with them. Has anyone else ever had this problem? If so, what's the best thing to get rid of them? Are there certain trees they live in? I've been bitten several times while trying to get them out with the skim net, it's painful but nothing like fire ants. Any suggestions would be great. I've even thought about a mesh cover of some sort to put on the pool overnight, but I'm not sure if that would work.

They are extra bad this year. There are several active threads this spring talking about them. They are temporary, they've let up here a lot the last two days. The end is near.

Had the same problem 2 weekends ago. Scooped at least 100 of those suckers out of the pool. When I was swimming in the deep end at the bottom I found what i could only describe as maggots. They were dead, but I've never seen them before. The ants have all but vanished and no more maggots. That was very strange and gross.
