bubbles on popup heads

Inground pool. Paramount in-floor cleaner. I frequently see bubbles coming from just 2 heads on a single zone. Coincidentally they're the two shallowest heads in the whole system (On the topmost step of the pool). There's not a lot of bubbles, but I do see them, and it's not just when the zone is starting up. I'll see the bubbles throughout the cycle.

I figure air is getting in somewhere, but my suspicion would be in the suction side and if that were the case I would think I would see the bubbles from every zone. How can just one zone have bubbles?

I guess one possibility is if you are getting air in the system it is bleeding out at that point. Do you see air in the pump basket?

No air in the pump basket. And no air in the top of the cartridge filter (i.e. when I turn the purge valve up there all I get is water)

Just in case anyone stumbles upon this thread, I **think** I've solved the problem. Seems the pressure gauge on the distribution manifold for the in-floor cleaner was a bit loose. I have no idea why it would have allowed air in as opposed to leak water, but I noticed I could easily turn it by hand. I tightened it down and I have not seen the bubbles since. May be coincidence.....
