Bubbles in spa check valve

My spa has stopped overflowing into pool. Saw bubbles in spa check valve, so lubed pool pump gasket. No bubbles in pump now but still bubbles in check valve and can't feel water flow into spa. If I turn on the spillway button that allows extra flow, the check valve fills up, no bubbles, and good flow into pool. Any ideas? Don't want to leave spillway button activated because it makes the pump run harder.

The number one reason for a spa to quit overflowing into a pool is a dirty filter..

What is your filter pressure at what RPM?
