Hi,

I have algae (I think green, maybe black) that I need to get rid of. Mostly on the steps and the opening to where the skimmer hose attaches. Do I try and brush as much off as possible before slamming? During slamming I see it says to brush, does that mean in general? Or brush/scrub the algae? My question is at what points in the slam process am I scrubbing the algae?

Thank you,
Jennifer

By brushing the algae off into small individual particles floating in the water, you increase the algae's surface area, and chlorine has much easier access.

Algae also sometimes develops a biofilm around it that shields it from chlorine. Important to break up that film by brushing.
