Brown plume

Pool stats:
Above ground 25 x 13 x 54". Running a 1.5 hp w/ a Hayward Star Clear cartridge filter. A single skimmer w/ two output jets.
Problem:
Two weeks ago I have an algae outbreak which has been taken care of (was green now brown). I vacuumed and cleaned the filter 6 times to get rid of the algae bulk. And after letting the debris settle over night, I started to vacuum and notice a brown plume coming out of the jets. I even tried turning off one of the jets to see if that fixed the problem, but it did not.
What I'm I doing wrong or is it the filter - I have new blue paper filter installed.

Welcome to TFP! I can just about bet you still have algae. If you didn't follow the SLAM Process we employ here at TFP by using a proper at home test kit (TF-Series or Taylor K-2006C), then you still have it.

Can you post a full set of water test results? That would be a good place to start and confirm. Also see that SLAM Process article for details on how to kill and remove algae completely. It's all about chemistry at this point, No amount of mechanical filtering alone will do it.

Unless you pass all 3 of these criteria you’re not algae free.
✅ CC is 0.5 or lower;
✅ You pass an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test
AND
✅ The water is clear.
(Crystal Clear w/no algae dead or alive)

It’s still SLAM Process algae killing time. This is more than a once or twice addition of chlorine.
You will need one of the test kits Pat mentioned to accomplish this.
See —> Test Kits Compared
Until you have one just add 5ppm worth of liquid chlorine each day to prevent things from getting worse.
Once your kit comes or if you already have one- do all the tests & post the results here like this:
Fc
Cc
Ph
Ta
Ch
Cya
Salt (if applicable)

Time for my go to recommendation.

If you have SLAMMed your pool, and you have passed an OCLT, and you are trying to get rid of the dead algae and your filter is not fine enough, then get a Slime Bag.

Put the Slime Bag on one return and plug the other. (or get 2 slime bags)

They work really well at filtering our extremely small particles. I put on before I bump my DE filter. It catches the plume of fine DE that comes out of my return after pumping my filter.
