Bromine after fresh fill

Question all,

I just refilled the hottub

After adjusting TA and PH levels, I understand I need to add sodium bromide (bromine booster)

My question is, do I wait 30min and then add non chorine shock? Is the shocking part necessary for starting the bromide reserve?
