Broken Thermometer in pool

I have a 15' intex pool. The thermometer was crushed inside my pool by my sons friends. (accidentally) I am worried about possible shards of glass or plastic in the water. (my young grandson loves to play in the pool and "drink" the water :-( He doesn't really drink it, he says that when he accidentally gets water in his mouth.)
Anyway, any suggestions on how to clean it out? I was able to pick out the the plastic outer cover, but can not see the clear parts. Thanks for any help

Welcome to TFP.

If it was glass you have no choice but to drain the pool to get any glass out from the bottom. With plastic you have to decide how sharp the pieces might be.

With a 15' pool, I'm inclined to agree with Allen that draining it is probably the best idea. Even with draining it you'll have to be very careful to inspect every inch of the bottom. It's easy to miss small pieces.

If you had a good vacuum and a skimmer on the pool, I'd probably suggest putting two or three skimmer socks in the skimmer and vacuuming the entire pool very slowly several times. But without those options and with a pool the size of yours, it's pretty easy to drain it.

Thank you for your responses. I think because we got it used and the ring is cracking anyways (Intex easy set up ring pool) I will drain and through out. I can get a new one pretty cheap. Thanks again! :)
