Broken pipe in heater

Hey guys. I have an Hayward pool heater and a White pvc pipe broke at the Bottom of it ( check attached pic). Can I just fix the pipe itself, or Do I have to replace the entire compressor? ( That's what I was told by one company.

Can't tell anything from the picture ... why not try fixing the pipe before spending thousands...

Yeah...kind of hard to take a good pic because of the position of the pipe. Thanks, that s what I was going to try.
