In the course of a pool deck remodel, a strip of concrete deck was removed & one of the four copper bond wires were broken. Each end is fairly easily accessible to "splice" them back together. I'm looking for the best/approved/safest/ permanent way to do that. I may also have access to a portion of the rebar if I chip back more concrete & dig under the sliver of exposed dirt, but that is a not-preferred plan "B".. I'm considering two copper split bolts with a small 2-3" "bridge wire" to make better contact with each end of the broken wire... and I'd try to heat shrink-wrap or slather them with anti-corrosive compound. Ultimately, they will be back underground-- covered in either gravel or mortar mix & a stone inlay. The other item was thiis cylindrical connector from Amazon (see pictures). I can just feed each broken end into the cylinder and tighten it down with the two set screws (that aren't really shown in their picture)... and shrink wrap it with the piece that's provided with the kit.
Any advice, experience, code experts etc. will be appreciated. Thank you.
