Moved from here.. Bottom of Pool is Dirty Everyday

Greetings all
First time pool owner, third summer.

I was enthused to read this thread.
This problem has haunted me since the beginning.

It is very fine debris, almost silty, that just goes into a cloud when disturbed.

The debris pattern fans out from the water returns jets and accumulates on the sides and on seams of the liner.

I am on my 4th "vacuum to waste" and it seems to reduce each time (most dramatically the first and second time) but keeps returning.
It must be too fine for the sand filter.

I back wash and rince before and after "my vaccum to waste"

Attached photo was taken after the second "vacuum to waste"

I saw it was mentioned that it was algae. I did wonder if it was dead algae debris but no matter, I want to get rid of it.
I'll keep checking here for advice.

Thank you
Have a great summer to all

Hello Mike and welcome to TFP! IT does look like algae. No amount of filtering or vacuuming will remove it. You need to perform the SLAM Process using liquid chlorine (at the proper elevated level) and the proper test kit - either a TF-100 (link in my signature) or Taylor K-2006C. It all starts there. So if you have one of those kits, or obtain one as soon as you can, post a full set of water results and we'll be happy to coach you through a SLAM Process.

Don't forget to update your signature with all of your pool and equipment info, to include which test kit you have. Let us know if you have any questions.

Hey Mike !!! ^^^^. All of the above. We see it over and over and over. Stick around and join the party and you’ll see it too.

If you do, we can get you ship shape and trouble free in no time, and stupid clear water going forward. Check this thread out and see what yours can look like too.
