I'm helping a friend here....he has a pump and cleaner attached to two Intermatic mechanical timers. They have power, and when we look thru the small peekholes, the gears seem to be moving. Problem is that when the time is set, they seem to keep correct time for an hours or so, and then stop keeping time. I initially suspected a bad motor, but the fact that this happened to both timers at same time is suspicious.
Any ideas where to troubleshoot?
If the solution is to replace, does this group recommend replacing with the same mechanical timer or moving to an electronic/digital option?
