Boric Acid Technical Grade

Bob - you’re spa is twice as large as mine but i just use boric acid powder from Walmart in my hot tub its $3/lb & 99% boric acid - its not a large amount so it’s not such a pain that its powder ( i just mix it in a bucket with spa water to dissolve it before adding it). It looks like u would need 1lb to get u in the 40-50 ppm range.
For the pool i need a lot so i get the granular. CCCA70DE-126A-4BDA-8552-79B6FA2E4038.png

Thank you, I think I will skip it since its toxic to pets... And my dog jumped once in to the spa... Before yeah I decontaminated it... Even that he has regular baths.

Are there any other pH buffers ?

There are phosphate based buffers (I don’t recall the product name off have) but you have to have nearly zero calcium hardness or else the the water will precipitate calcium phosphate scale.

Whats the issue, rising pH?

Yup, pH rockets up with aeration

But, I will do a fresh fill soon, and not raise my TA.

My tap water has 90 TA and pH of 7... My store told me to raise TA... Which wasnt good idea I think.

I will raise pH by aeration... And see if water will be easier to balance.

Thank you

Most have the best luck keeping ph in check w/ ta of 50-60ppm with or without borates.
as recommended in the sticky @ the top of this forum.
