Decided to add boric acid to help with water feel and “sparkle” of water. Before adding Duda boric acid, pH -7.6, TA - 70. After added, borate levels was 50 on dipstick. pH the next day was 7.8.
Usually check pH once a week or twice. Usually I can keep pH climb from 7.6 - 8.0 by adding acid once a week. I can keep ph 7.6-7.8 if I measure and add acid twice a week.
It’s been one week, pH > 8.0. FC 8. Used a pH meter - 8.6 was reading. I’m adding acid to correct pH climb but with normal pool settings that I haven’t changed or added any new chemicals, I have seen a higher than normal pH climb. I know with borates I may need to add more acid to have the same pH lowering effect but should I have expected or continue to expect such a rapid rise of pH compared to my normal without borates?
Thanks for any insight
