Borate reading?

Hi, I put 4 boxes of 40 Mule Team in my pool for what I thought was just a start, as I have some Boric acid in order. I got the test strips today and it looks like it’s @ 30. Is this possible? Could borate be coming from another source? I don’t really see or feel any difference in the water since adding. Thanks!

If you have never added Borax or Boric Acid before, then you should have started at zero. Not sure how accurate the strips are, I am using the mannitol titration that is mentioned in the Wiki article:

I think the change in feel of the water after adding borates is vastly overrated. They do a great job as a pH buffer to keep SWG cells clean from scaling. But my water still fells and looks like, well, water...
