Borate and PH increase

On the back end of a SLAM.
FC 12
PH 7.2
TA 50
CYA 50
Borate 15

PoolCalc says I will need 550oz of Muriatic to compensate for the PH increase if I add 1154oz of Borax.

But I need to raise my PH and my TA which would require a good bit of Baking Soda
Would it stand to reason that I could add the Borax incrementally FIRST and watch my PH and just be ready to use the Muriatic?

PoolCalc or Pool Math on this site? As fars as I know, the old Pool Calculator is not being updated.

Any of the calculators will tell you how much to put in when you give it a target. So what are your targets?

Why all the Borax?

I added Borates to my pool 2 years ago and it worked really well. The water looked and felt great and was super stable.

Well, I'll admit, I'm not the borates guy. I have never used it because it can be toxic to dogs at higher levels and we have always had swimming dogs.

Instead of Borax, many folks just use borac acid from Duda-

boric | Duda Diesel Alternative Energy, Chemicals & Industrial Supply Store

As far as your question, I always like adding chemical incrementally.
