Bleach Prices 2014

Apparently, I'm an oddity. My local pool store refills 2.5 gallon (320 oz) containers for $5, and it's 10% chlorine, which, if my math is correct, gives me a cost per ounce of about 16 cents. (I think the initial cost to buy the container was $8, but that was 2 years ago). They also have a punch card - after 10 refills, your 11th is free.

Diamond Clear in Woonsocket, RI. (Amco) “MegaShock” Sodium Hypochlorite 12.5%

4 gallons/$10 normal containers-$2.50/gallon or $0.156/oz
Large refillable container 5 gallons/$11-$2.20/gallon or $0.138/oz (+$8 one time charge for container keep to bring back to refill they will not refill other containers)

They make it right on site.

Menards has 128oz 12.5% containers on sale for $2.50 right now.

So $0.156 per oz

Sale ends on the 7th of June

If you shop there a lot, you can take advantage of the 11% rebate program, dropping the price to $0.14/oz

These days I'm buying clorox bottles from the grocery store (HEB), and their normal price is $3.50 per 121 oz bottle at 8.25%. This works out to be $0.35/oz.

Most of the time, though, I have $1 off coupons, so I actually pay $2.50 per bottle, or $0.25/oz.

I'm seeing you guys getting bleach at $0.15-0.19 per oz... maybe I need to look for new sources

I was looking at my local janitorial supply website, and noticed that their Ultra Clorox® Germicidal Bleach - 96 oz. was listed at $8.00/case and that 6 jugs came to a case. The only problem is that the description lists the concentration ranging from 6.15-8.25 percent. That seems like an awful large range in strength. To add to the confusion, what looks to be the official MSDS lists the concentration ranging from 5-10%. Here is the MSDS: http://www.thecloroxcompany.com/dow...rcialsolutionsultracloroxgermicidalbleach.pdf

What is the deal here?

anyone in central PA can get 5 gallons of 12.5% sodium hypochlorite from Aqua Specialist in mechanicsburg for $16, plus a 10 dollar deposit on the jug. Looks like they get it in quite often from a chemical dealer not far away who has it for commercial uses.

I normally buy the 3/case of Clorox at Sams for $7.98. It's 8.25%. But today I scored! I found gallon jugs of 10% at my local farm store for $2.00/gal

I work inside a Costco whs... The Clorox here is priced at $9.39 for 3 - 121 Oz jugs... I wonder why they price it higher here? I've been buying the 2.98 jugs of greater value at Walmart

I see freds has their store brand bleach June 10-21 for $1.95/121 with a smart buy card. I looked up the msds and it says it's 8.25%. Can anyone confirm?

Yes, it is 8.25%. I stopped by Fred's yesterday to buy some for a SLAM. I picked up 8 jugs. It was marked at $2.99, but to my surprise the bill came to $16 and some change. Receipt showed the price you quote. I didn't use a smart buy card.

My local Ollies ran out of the 12% liquid shock I was getting. The Rural King next door has a big stock of 10% liquid for $7.99 per case of 4 1 gallon bottles. They also had regular bleach for $0.98 but found out it is only 3%.

Did you test the strength? I've been searching all over and I couldn't find the strength of it anywhere. We just had an ollies open close by, they have the 12% liquid chlorine for 2.99 and bleach for . 99 cents . I bought some bleach to try out today when I get off work. If it's too weak to be cost effective, I'm going to go get some of the higher strength LC.
