If black dot did not disappear in cya test does this mean there is no cya? I just received fresh reagent today (expiration date: 4/23

I just opened the pool last Thursday and the only things I added were liquid chlorine, 4 clorox tabs and 3 pounds of clorox shock.

Yes, that would mean you have very little or no stabilizer. Be sure to be careful about Clorox tabs and shock they usually have copper in them which will cause problems.

As long as it’s 99-100% cyanuric acid it’s ok.

late post but once I kept testing even after dumping cya in and the dot wouldn’t disappear. I read somewhere you do it in the sun with your back towards the sun. That did the trick.
