Was told that we have black algae in the pool. The recommended treatment was:
- Drain the pool fully - 30,000 gallons
- use algaecide and scrub every inch of the pools surface
- throw away all pool equipment - skimmer, brush, etc.
- get new filter grids
- essentially empty, scrub and get everything else new.
THis doesn't sound legit, but I have never dealt with black aglae
