Started up my pool first time for season and can’t seem to get air out of system, I checked and siliconed my filter basket lid, filter doesn’t fill up completely and every time I open the filter valve full of air then will start to spray some water out but full of air. Question is what’s the best way to check unions and valve for suspected leaks, soapy water? Smoke?

What happens when you partially open the pressure relief valve on the top of the filter.........pump running?
Ir seems like you have a suction side air leak,
