Best way 10ft pool went green while on holiday

Hello, this is our first year as an above ground pool owner. We live in London and went on holiday for 9 days. Came back and the pool was green. We left it at the right levels, with a chlorine dispenser. Cover partially on. It rained a lot. Now I’ve tried to rebalance the chorine, put algaeside in, brushed it off the edges, ran the filter. But no change. Any ideas of how we can fix this before the next heat wave? Thanks.

Welcome to TFP! In this forum we use the SLAM Process to kill and remove algae. Algaecides do not kill algae, and the wrong algaecide will add copper and make matters worse. To perform the SLAM Process it is also important to have a proper test kit. Availability of a TF-Series test kit (link in my signature) or Taylor K-2006C may be difficult for you, so an alternative may be required. But short of replacing your water, the SLAM Process works.

Drain, scrub, rinse & start fresh following this guide 👇
You’ll be swimming in fresh clean water by this evening if you start now.
Doing the
SLAM Process could take a week or more & that’s assuming you have a proper kit in hand which is unlikely in your locale Test Kits Compared. Those pools have notoriously small filters & can stay at the “cloudy stage” for a long time even if you’re doing all the right things. Easier & cheaper to just dump & start fresh.
