Best product to use between galvanized coping and concrete and best paint for coping

We have sanded our old coping down to metal so it can be repainted. What is the best product to use between where the coping and concrete meet to fill the gap? Also would like recommendation on what kind of paint would be best to use.

You sanding probably removed the protective galvanized coating of zinc on the coping.

Rustoleum paint for the type of metal.
