I read several posts about how folks manage their pools when on vacation, and opinions vary. After going through 2 SLAMs this season (opening and subsequent pump failure), I do not want to return to a green pool!
My husband will be home but doesn't know how to test the water. He has little interest in the pool, so teaching him is not an option. I asked my son to come over every few days to test, but I'm not confident he will follow through.
Here is my plan:
Before leaving, I will brush, vacuum, and clean the filter. I'll increase FC to 10 and cover the pool with the solar cover. I'll ask my husband to add 1 cup of LC every morning (the average amount I've used daily) and turn on the filter. This will be easy for him because we have a switch on the patio. Let the filter run for at least 8 hours, then turn off for the night. The solar cover will stay on for the duration of my trip (10 days).
Whatcha think?
