Basketball hoop for above ground pool

Hi, I'm getting an above ground pool installed in the next couple weeks and had a question about installing a basketball hoop. Would there be any issues with installing an in ground regular driveway basketball hoop right next to the pool, so it slightly overhangs? I don't want just a floating hoop and don't plan on having a deck so couldn't do that style either. If this won't work, any other suggestions for a good hop setup for above ground pool?

Welcome to TFP.

What model pool are you installing?

I have not seen a hoop put in the ground outside the pool overhanging the pool.

Depending on the pool I may be concerned about aggressive players banging into the sides of the pool around the hoop.

I don't see any issue as far as compromising the pool is concerned.

I do see issues with it getting in the way as you try to vacuum, skim, put on your winter cover, etc.

I would also think that a full sized hoop and backboard is a bit large.

If it was me, this is what I would do.

Get a pool sized backboard and net and attach it to a pipe (using U bolts) or a 4x4 (just lag bolt it on)

Then build a sleeve in the ground that will accept your pipe or 4x4.

Now you have a pool sized backboard and hoop, and it is removeable when you need it to be.
