Gary, as I'm fairly inept with computers let me tell you how to cross link. (as this is in the deep end and the question got answered, I don't feel bad going off topic)
I'm substituting "()'s" for "[]'s" so what I type will show up.
Find the post you want to link and capture the address from the address bar at the top of the screen. Click the URL gray box and you'll get (url)(/url). You can either paste the captured address between the )( or put "=" after url: (url=)(/url) and paste the address betwixt the"=" and the ")". and type a word or phrase between the ] and [
EXAMPLE:
Say you wanted to link an amusing intro from one of the members go to the thread and capture the address - in this case it's
post75396.html#p75396
now you can hit the URL button and insert it between the ][ (url)http://www.troublefreepool.com/post75396.html#p75396(/url) to get this
http://www.troublefreepool.com/post75396.html#p75396 -- this is a little distracting so you may want to use the (url=http://www.troublefreepool.com/post75396.html#p75396)
here(/url) to get
here
The URL function works for any web address you want to link
Well isn't that funny... I didn't use the URL for the first link so I guess you only have to use it if you want to use the = option -- I learn something new every day

(FWIW - I had just copied the "http//www.etc and it was made into a clickable link)
I hope this helped :-D
