Back story - For many years we've had the same pool company open, close and clean our pool throughout the season.
Our Autopilot total control had a reading of pH 10.2. The dip strip read pH of 6. Our acid pump kept injecting acid in the line to correct the 10.2.
As it happens our total control needed a new board. The board was replaced and the Autopilot once again works perfectly and is a godsend.
Our pool guy advised us to take a water sample in to be analyzed. The chemistry results were way out of line.
The only thing I had on hand to add was sodium bicarbonate, 12 pounds, done.
The results
FC 2.07, pH 7, TA 55, CH 299, CYA 29, Copper 1.2, Phosphates 3076, Salt 3076
EVery 24 hours I added a professionally recommended chemical.
Over the course of weeks water samples were analyzed. Recommended chemicals were added.
Sodium bicarbonate, CYA, Muriatic acid, Chlor neutralizer, Metal out, Phosphate out.
I opened my StaRite filter system. I was taken aback when I saw my new filters were completely green. The pool water was crystal clear. The chemistry bid well balanced but my new filters are green.
For two hours I sprayed water between each filter pleat to remove the green.
What chemical additive led the filters to turn green? What is the green substance?
