Baking Soda Stains

I just dumped a bit of baking soda in the deep end to raise the TA. I also had to add some CaCl to raise the CH after all this rain we've had lately. Well, I decided to pour in the CaCl before brushing the baking soda. Big mistake apparently! From the baking soda sitting on the bottom for just a couple of minutes, now I have about 10 white stains that I cannot brush off and haven't gone away in the last 30 minutes. Has anyone ever had this happen? More importantly, how do I get these stains off of my 1 year old plaster? :grrrr:

Calcium scaling stains. Local application of diluted acid should remove it. Or, you can lower your CSI to -0.6 or less to try to lighten it but that will affect the entire pool surface.

CaCl2 gets very hot when added to water. It should wheats be pre-dissolved in small batches in a 5 gallon pail and added in front of a return in the deep end.

Or you can swim down there with some fine grit wet/dry sand paper and polish it out. There are also scrubbing type attachments you can attach to your pole to rub the stain away (gently!!).
