I was scanning a pool forum on Reddit and shaking my head at the bad advice.

Problem with Reddit is if you say something the forum bullies don't agree with, they'll downvote you to heck. This hurts your "Karma" which can prevent you from being able to post at all. This is why Reddit forums are largely useless.

I am on a woodworking forum on Reddit and found this out the hard way. No matter how poorly someone's project is or how badly (sometimes dangerously) built, if you give negative constructive feedback, you'll instantly get tons of downvotes.

We get a ton of love there too from all the folks we've helped that are there for other reasons such as yourself.

Many folks are told to come visit or given basic TFP advice such as keeping the FC up in regards to their CYA.

what do you folks see that is wrong?
Stains from mismanagement and haziness that probably can't be all chalked up to the reflection. We redefine newbs definition of clear all the time. They come back happy saying it's the clearest it's ever been and we tell them to keep at it and just wait. For a 'brochure/ success pic' that one above doesn't cut it. Half the time (all morning) i can't even see my water because it hurts too much to look.

Its hit or miss over there- many do not realize the importance of the system we have here at tfp which includes adding all your relevant info upon signing up like location & crucial pool details along with our requirements of accurate test results. Other groups & forums lack more than half this information for most posters so precise advice is often not able to be given and instead general/blanket recommendations are often tossed out.
I peruse there sometimes but rarely post, as just like with Facebook most of my answers would be tfp links or telling them to post here for guidance.
Especially when its chemistry problems which are the majority.

I saw a couple threads complaining about specifically going to *not TFP*, only to get bombarded with TFP advice and told to visit here anyway. Like. No longer asking questions and just venting. The responses were along the lines of 'well, it works, so'
