Sounds good. I just don’t understand why they would label it as filter sand. I believe everything that you have said. That’s why I’m wondering if the sand over time is setting down around the lateral to tightly. A guy I work with used the same sand last year with no problems. So I’m just between a rock and a hard place.

I wouldn't get too upset until you get your test kit in-hand. Once you have a proper idea of the water chemistry, then you can move forward with intent!
Sand is never just one exact size. It's usually within about 16 to 45 mesh for 99% of the sand.
So, they can label it in multiple ways.
You would need to find the sieve analysis to know how much of each size sand there is in the mix.
You should look for sand that has minimal sand that's smaller than 30 mesh. Example:
Sand and Gravel Water Filtration
You can use a larger size sand or gravel near the laterals to keep smaller sand away from the laterals.
Make sure that the sand filter is big enough for the flow rate. There should be about 1 square foot of sand surface area per 15 gpm.
3 square foot is the minimum size that I would recommend with 5 to 7 square foot being better.

When I woke up this morning pool water was clear and I could see the bottom well? Weird I know. I bit the bullet and let pump run the 4 hours today while I was at work. No problems, but filter was pretty dirty. Never went over 5psi higher than normal. I’m assuming since I switched to using bleach vs 65% cal-hypo is the reason.
That's a great update! If you are in SLAM Process, pump should be running 24/7 and preferably with filter, unless the pressure is rising too fast.
I’m trying to slam, but with work and my crazy schedule and Mother Nature the last 3 days it’s been hard to keep the FC high. Still no test kit... (suppose to have arrived today). I’m relying on my strips and so far I assume everything ok. Ph dropped to 7.2 today from 7.8. We received 3.5 inches or rain last night though.

It just takes little longer, that's all You can grab a "baby" test kit at Walmart to get some more accurate readings until your proper test kit arrives. It uses the same Taylor reagents, it's just very small amounts (and does not have the FAS-DPD test or SpeedStir)
Temps have been in the low 50s to low 60s so I’m sure the colder weather isn’t helping algae growth.
