Backwash

Just wanted to know how long should I backwash for and are you loosing a lot of water in the process that should be replaced?

Two to 3 minutes or sight glass running clear--and most folks backwash when they have an excess of water from rain. Don't forget a 30 second rinse cycle afterwards with pump off in between.
