I am in need of some help. I initially took my filter apart and started rinsing them off, but due to little ones under the age of 4 it wasn’t as effective with the time and attention I had. I went and bought a backwash hose thinking that would be a little more hands off to where I could walk away for a couple minutes to tend to the kids on the play structure (outside the pool gate). I made the mistake of not look at my plumbing very well and just assumed when I was running errands with the kids that I could just pick one up. When I got home I found that I have no clue where to attach is cause there are no attachments like I saw on the YouTube videos. Anyways...here I am still in need of backwashing and need a couple things. We bought this house with the pool, so the filter has the sq ft measurement along with others gone. What’s the best way to estimate the grid sq ft for adding the de? Also how in the heck do I backwash this? Does a piece of the plumbing

It appears to me that you have a cartridge filter and not a DE filter.. Cartridge fitlers cannot be backwashed.
You just open them and manually used a hose to clean the cartridge(s)..

I did that cause a friend of mine said that was his preference for cleaning his de filters rather than backwashing. He said he will just hose them off then wait for the de to dry out then scoop it up and toss it.
What does the inside look like? You don't have a DE filter.

Hahaha!!! After talking with a bunch of guys and describing what I had I just assumed I had a DE filter. You were right I looked on Pentair’s website and see that what I can make on the label of the filter housing is a clean and clear plus which is a cartridge system. Thank you for looking and helping me out.
