AutoPilot Pool Pilot Digital Nano Error: Low Amps, Cell

SWFL
Greetings,

My SWG (AutoPilot Pool Pilot Digital Nano) is currently displaying the error message: Low Amps, Cell.

Any idea where to start with fixing this? My pool company suggested that I might need to replace the power cord and/or the cell. In total, the pool company suggested that it would run ~$800 or $900 for both the power cord and the cell (~$200/$300 for the cell). Does this seem like a fair estimate? Their last quote for a replacement pool pump was very high, but they were willing to work with me to install a cheaper pump that I found on my own.

Also, is there anything cheaper I can pursue in the meantime to help diagnose the issue? I'd hate to spend that kind of money to begin with, let alone if it won't even fix the problem. I won't be able to physically access the SWG for myself until the end of July, so part of me wonders whether I can just treat the pool with regular chlorine until I can mess with the SWG for myself.

-thanksinadvance!

First thing is to make sure the cell is clean and free from scale.

If it is, then it is likely a failing cell.

How old is the cell?

Sorry, I don't trust the "Pool Guy", I would look at it yourself. Post some pictures if in doubt.

2-3 yo is a bit on the young side but not unheard of either depending on how the pool was maintained.

Did you rely on the "Pool Guy" to maintain the pool? If so, that might explain the short life. It is tough to find one that really knows what they are doing. On this forum, we highly recommend our members to maintain their own pool.

I'd love to maintain my own pool at some point. I was moving in this direction (reading the TFP Pool School stuff), but then I had a death in the family and had to fly halfway across the country, leaving my dear sweet pool in the hands of an incompetent pool guy.

I fired the incompetent pool guy a few weeks ago, and I had to hire a new pool company because there's nobody there to maintain the pool until I can return home. The new pool company is the one I referenced in my first post above.

When I do get back, I will have a look at it myself, for sure. I guess I'm wondering what specifically I should look for when I do get back. Below is an image of the salt cell that the new pool company sent (the pool company said there was "light scale but not bad"):
