Automatic pool cover drum corrosion, fixable or replace?

Pool cover specialists came out to check out the mechanism of the automatic pool cover. He said the whole thing needs to be replaced even the fabric which is in good condition because its connected to mechanism. Last year the cover worked fine but opened crooked.


I see one of the drum ends are not connected to the housing. I think its this piece - Automatic Pool Cover Parts

I see the whole mechanism is corroded very bad. Is it fixable or does it need to be replaced?

You really don't know until you get into it exactly what is usable and what needs to be replaced. If you have the skills and time to dig into it, and the parts are available, you may be able to get it working.

A repair company, who you will be looking to warranty their work, is likely to tell you to replace it all and start with all new that they know will work.

i went to open the pool after winter today and the end casing on my drum broke...snapped ...just had a new cover put on last year too...if the pool guy would have suggested a drum i would have replaced at that time....it looks like concrete...but insure if the end can be replaced or do i have to replace the whole drum?

is 315.00 an hourly rate plus parts legal to fix this? lolololol
