We had our pool installed yesterday and I came home to an automated chlorine feeder put in. It wasn’t something we had discussed so I’m wondering if I can just not use it since we are planning on using the TFP method of liquid chlorine and just keep it in place for times when we will be away? This is all new to us so I’m trying to learn as I go!

Okay thank you. That’s what I thought, I didn’t see a need to take it out of the system if it would be possibly helpful at some point. I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t an issue to not use it since it’s built in. I had no idea they were including this.
So basically if we are going to be away for a week or so I could use the tricolor to keep chlorine up? I’m not sure it will be necessary anytime soon but good to know it may be an option if we do eventually go away.

Correct. Trichlor is chlorine and CYA. So if you go away and use X number of tablets, you know you raised your CYA by XX. Account for that in your FC levels.
