Autocover wiring question

I am having a Coverstar Autocover installed as part of a new fiberglass pool installation and am concerned with the wire size being used to the autocover motor. The run in 180' from the autocover switch to the autocover motor and they have installed 14 guage wire. That seems pretty small to me. The Autocover electric motor is a 3/4 HP motor drawing 8.8 amps. Every wire size calculator I see on the internet calls for something much bigger that 14 guage. Does anyone that has an autocover know what size wiring was used, or if there are any installers on here, what size should the wiring be?

You may wish to contact your city or county building department and see what they require. I'm assuming there was a building permit issued and all work will be inspected by said authority.
