Hello! I am contemplating a rectangle fiberglass pool install and have been looking at a pool that has a built-in niche for an automatic cover. Is there any benefit to this niche over just having the PB build a box (cost savings, aesthetics, etc.)? I haven’t seen too many real-world applications of this particular pool to fully understand the benefit. TIA!

Welcome to TFP.

I'm not familiar with that kind of pool, can you share a link?

In general, I would prefer something integrated over something added-on.

Depends on the model of the pool. Is it something like a Leisure Pools Cube? If so there is a specific cover that works with that pool (Aquamatic Hydralux). If you want just a normal rectangular pool with a traditional autocover, you can use whatever brand you want and either build a box or use the manufacturer's box.

I’m currently installing a 16x38 fiberglass pool in Delaware with an autocover. PM me for more info.

Yes, I was looking at the similar Leisure Reflection plus Cover. This is really good to know, thanks! I'd rather not be "boxed" into one option :)

Not a problem. The Hydralux is a slick-looking cover, but as far as I know, the only way to build a box for it is if you're doing a gunite pool. I believe the reflection also comes with a splash deck and normal version as well, both of which would accommodate a standard autocover. I would do a little more research before settling on one, they each have their pros and cons. The Hydralux looks really nice but is not a safety-rated cover.
