HI all
My water level is too high, which is somewhat inhibiting my pool skimmer.
I have an auto-fill, but can't figure out how to adjust it. I need lower my waterline by about half an inch or so.
It's a standard auto-fill, nothing special. Any help would be great!

A picture or brand and model number would be a big help. Some use a toilet anti siphon valve and some use a valve with a lever with a float on the end. They are adjusted differently.

it's a valve with a lever and a float on the end.
I will take a picture.

There will be a thumb screw that you loosen and adjust the float lever arm.

Do I need to shut off the water first?

No. The thumbscrew may have corrosion on it and may be difficult to loosen. So be careful not to break it.

darn thumbscrew won't turn. I feel like if i turn it any harder it will bust

OK -- try some kind of lubricant. WD40, a penetrating oil, etc.

how many inches from the bottom of the waterline tile is best? Tile is 6 inches high

Mid skimmer level is best. Skimming efficiency is your goal.

ok great, i appreciate the help; i have been wanting to lower the water level for quite some time.
