Closing for first time in South Dakota this weekend. Completed pH adjustment and SLAM to 20 for a CYA of 50. Plan to lower water level below tiles which should take me below the only return (integrated into aquagenie). But wanted to check how much support, if any, the pool cover needs from underneath. I'll have a pump on it until we stay below freezing. Thanks in advance.

Do not lower your water level with an autocover. As stated, the water supports the cover when it is weighed down with rain water, snow, etc. Otherwise damage to the cover and / or tracks can occur. Also, an automatic pump that lives on the cover all winter is highly recommended, and in some cases, required.
