Hi, I've got an existing 38,000 gallon in-ground pool in southern New England. The current pump is a Hayward Super pump 2.

We are going to put in a salt water generator this season and are considering adding a heater and two-speed pump next year.

The Aquarite 40K ( Goldline Controls AquaRite Chlorine Generator 40K - W3AQR15 - INYOPools.com

and the Prologic PLP4 pack ( Goldline Controls ProLogic PLP4 Control, Chlorinator Pool or Spa Only - PLP4PACK - INYOPools.com

are so close in price, I am having trouble figuring out the best option for us.

Does the ProLogic PLP4 pack come with the salt water generator and were we to get it we could use it for salt water generation without doing much with the extra features?

Does the ProLogic PLP4 need the Omni Sense unit to measure and adjust the chlorine?

Are my needs really not that complicated and there's another Hayward module i should be looking at?

Are both of these units large enough to handle a 38,000 gallon IG pool?

I'm trying to future proof to some extent so when we add a heater or two speed pump we can easily "program" it for maximum efficiency and monimum effort.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, Hayward pricing is strange at times. You get a lot more with the PLP4. The PLP4 will take a bit more electrical wiring then the Aquarite if you want to wire it up to use other capabilities in the future.

Yes, it comes with the SWG cell according to the link you posted.

No, The SWG cell does not need the OmniSense.

Not really. It is large enough if you run your pump 24/7. We recommend you get a SWG that is 2X your pool volume. For a 38,000 gallon pool you really need a 60K cell and only Pentair and Circupool sell then. Any 40K cell will work for you with long pump runtimes as the rated cell capacity is based on 24 hours of generation.

Thanks so much for the reply. I had suspected I needed slmething closer to 60K but wasn't sure if that rule applied to the Hayward products as well.

I'll probably go with the Pentair as they've been in business a long time and the piece of mind adds value for me.
