Aqualink RS Issue

Thanks, as always, for the responses.
PoolGate - the Aqualink is wired to ethernet. Also, the lights on the side indicate successful LAN and Web connections.
Allen - I will read the post you sent me and try to troubleshoot the pump.

You said your app (and the web) is not working at all, right? iAqualink (web interface and app) do not interface directly with your equipment. All of your commands go to Jandy and then back down to the devices. If something is going on with your Internet connection, you will not be able to control anything accept with the panel and the PDA.

But he still has a problem with RS-485 control of his ePump. That does not go through the Internet when he uses his PDA.

Yeah....I don't have any System menus on the PDA. The Web app began showing me some info when the PDA became functional, though it is slow and I'm not convinced it is updating, if I make a change.

I would say that I have some sort of RS485 issue on the board, since both the Aqualink and the pump are having issues. But, the PDA, which is connected to the same connection as the Aqualink, is working.

Based on the fact that his PDA and panel works, I would say the RS-485 possible issue is a red herring. I do not believe anything is wrong with the system. I think this is entirely a communications issue.

Once you switch to RS your PDA becomes simply an on/off device.

Sooo...on a lark, put my old PCB back in. Everything seems resolved. My phone app works (but still no power light on Aqualink). My pump is working (but still jumpered). All of my schedules are back on my web app. And my web app seems fully functional. 🤷‍♂️

Do you mean the PDA PCB? If that fixed it then it is further proof that it was a communications issue. The PDA doesn't require the web to work. You will need to do all programming with the PDA again, which is cumbersome, but can be done. You have an Aqualink with the IQ20-a upgrade now.

Newer board is Rev W. What is Rev of your old board you are running now?

The wired connection may possibly explain why the iAquaLink on-line and link lights are on while the power light is off. The network connection could be furnishing PoE to the board from the "front end" while the 12 volts DC (I think someone said AC, but that's a typo) between red wire (pin 1) and common (pin 4) of the RS-485 cable isn't there or isn't making it to the power bus on the board due to some kind of component failure.

Or was there ever a red light? Maybe it's always been like this and is intended to work this way with PoE. Some internet routers furnish PoE and others don't. So if you changed out your router at any time the picture could have changed then.

Anyway, if the PoE guess is true, removing the ethernet cable and trying to connect via WiFi would fail. The board would be completely dead.

I don't think I'm getting PoE from my ethernet, as the ethernet is plugged into a TP Link WA850RE Wireless Extender. I'm fairly certain there was a power light in the past, but not 100 percent.

This is true. So, maybe it is an issue with the pump? Things only work when the rs485 from the pump is disconnected.

I thought you said it worked with the PDA? It is a variable speed pump, right? You can change all speeds with the PDA? For sure get a new cable. Use any 4 wire 22 gauge communications or alarm system cable.
