I just had a new pool installed by Family Leisure in Little Rock. The skimmer separated when the concrete coping was installed. A month later it has rained 8 inches in a short period and my pool is leaking into the gravel channel behind the liner and pool frame. What are the long term problems with this and how do I fix it. My pool contractor says it's fine. It only overflows when it rains.20221210_153508.jpg20221210_153433.jpg20221210_153353.jpg20221210_153420.jpg

Welcome to TFP.

Show us some wider pics of the area around the skimmer.

Do you only have one skimmer?

If you do not have an overflow drain then you a e going to have to use a sump pump to manually drain water when you have heavy rains to keep it from overflowing.

Problems that can occur with water overflowing around the skimmer include:
  • If you have expansive soil the water can cause the soil to expand and shift or crack your deck
  • Soil can get washed away and cause cracks in your deck
  • We don't know the type of soil you have an how it will handle the overflow water
  • Water can run behind you liner and cause bubbles and bulges in the liner

Hey Brf and Welcome !!!

If it's wet behind the liner, that's reallllly bad for steel walls if applicable. Here's an example of what a leak can do in a short amount of time.

JB water weld will likely be the reccomended fix after we se more pics. On the plus side, it will only have to hold water on occasion.

I have expansive clay soils. I had a trench filled with mid grade gravel. Leaves a lot of room for water but it could wash the soild and collapse my concrete patio.20221210_153326.jpg20221123_145322.jpg20221110_124519.jpg20221014_182442.jpg
